After the Alumni Day Symposium, HMS dean Joseph Martin addressed the audience about ways in which technology has “flattened” Harvard, enabling students and faculty to access a wide range of information and resources from anywhere on the globe by using the digital library and MyCourses, among other innovations. Martin noted, “We established new ways to relate to our broad community through messaging systems that permit me to send instant e-mails to a community in excess of 14,000 people.”
