New Online Process Announced to Faculty for Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure

Over the summer, HMS’s Office for Research Issues introduced to the HMS Quad–based faculty a new online process for conflict-of-interest disclosure. The new procedure, developed by the Information Technology Department and accessed through the HMS intranet eCommons, will be rolled out to the rest of HMS and HSDM faculty in early October. At that time, members will receive an e-mail message introducing the new process and providing instructions to complete the disclosure steps. Under the Faculty of Medicine Policy on Conflicts of Interest and Commitment (found at www.hms.harvard.edu/integrity), conflict-of-interest disclosure is an obligation of all HMS and HSDM faculty, both full- and part-time. The new online process will largely replace the paper disclosure procedure that has been in effect. For questions about the policy or the new disclosure process, faculty members can contact the HMS Office for Research Issues by e-mail at conflict_support@hms.harvard.edu or by phone at 617-432-2094 or 617-432-3191.
